Bulls Bridge closure (follow up)
Not only is the parking lot closed, the trails and river access are temporarily closed.
State Troopers have been posted near the parking lot.
National Park Service (federal) officer posted at the trail head.
Apparently, this has been a long discussion between town officials, the utility (owners of the land), and law enforcement, who were all witness to steep increases in property use and abuse over the past couple of years.
While most officials recognize whitewater boaters as assets to the community, the challenge (for now) is that, if they openly allow us to access the river while denying access to other user groups, it will cause more problems than what they are already facing. We have been asked to cooperate with officials and respect the closure until a better land use and access protocol can be established.
