Flash boards fixed (and search and rescue update)

After speaking with one of the engineers at the powerplant, I found out the following regarding the search operations for the two men who went missing in the river on Wednesday:

Today (Friday) is the last day that the New Milford police will search.
Newtown search and rescue dive team might continue searching through the weekend.
Divers saw what they thought was one person, but the current in the deep hole is strong and all the rocks are round.  Typical Bulls Bridge; current with round rough rocks and lots of potholes.

The standing request to boaters is to carry around the search area and not float over it when emergency service crews are in the area.

However, the folks at First Light have asked all of us to keep our eyes open over the next week or two.

As of Friday, June 12, 2020, the flashboards on the Spooner Dam have been replaced.  First Light removed most of the debris that was in the river from the broken ones, but some small debris could still remain in the river bed.  They were not required to remove the debris, but decided to do so after speaking to a few whitewater boaters.  The foreman and engineer both seem to be open to hearing our needs for a safer water way.

The water is currently too low to operate the powerplant so it is still offline.
However, they can pond up a little bit, within the parameters of the license, so while we will see a few days of all 400 cfs going into the river bed, there might be some times when that drops a bit as they try to fill the canal or the lake upstream (which they had dropped to do the work on the flash boards).
